25th Infantry Division

 

Constituted in Hawaii in 1941, The 25th Infantry Division served with distiction in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and other conflicts.

Americal

 

23rd Infantry Division

 

The 23rd Infantry Division, also known as the Americal Division was formed 1942 and served in WWII. It was deactivated in 1945. Also Active 1951 through 1956 and 1967 through 1971 for service in Vietnam.

"Shake N Bake"

 

Non Commissioned Officers Candidates

 

The Non Commissioned Officers Candidate Course (Infantry) produced Infantry NCO's to be squad leaders and Platoon Sgt's primarily in Vietnam. Located at Ft. Benning, the  course trained 26,000 NCO's from 1967 through 1973. The " Shake n Bakes" produced four Medal of Honor recipients, all posthumous.

 

"Ivy Division"

 

4th Infantry Ivy Division

 

 Born in 1917 for service in WWI and deactivated in 1921. Reactivated in 1940 for WWII and continuous service ever since, including Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

22nd Infantry Regiment

 

The 22nd Infantry Regiment, formed in 1861 , served in the Civil War and is still active today.

Rescorla

 

Rick Rescorla, "Hero of the la Drang Valley", died on September 11th.

 

Rick Rescorla had a career in the British Military and then joined the United States Army. He served in Vietnam in the First Calvary Division and was awarded a Silver Star and was called The Hero of The Ia Drang Valley by some. After Vietnam, he became head of security for a major company based in the Twin Towers in New York City. On September 11, 2001, he was credited with evacuating over 2600 employees. He went back in to search for more survivors and was never seen again.

The 82nd Airborne Division started life as the 82nd Division in 1917 in World War I....It was reborn as the 82nd Airborne Division in 1942 and has served valiantly since then. WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq are just some of the places that the 82D/82nd Airborne has served.

 

 

 

The Division should have a Monument on The Walk of Honor. Plot E-5 has been selected and secured as the future site of a Monument to the Men and Women of 82D/82nd Airborne.
